Well I guess I am making my blogging debut - just so everyone is clear - this is the Mama (Debbie) and all of the previous and very eloquent posts were by the Daddy (Stephen). He is so much better at writing than I am, and everything else creative, for that matter. He is also a very busy man at the moment with school, housework, Connor, and his various projects. I have been wanting to get my feet wet at this blogging thing. I will start with just a simple post and then I want to learn how to upload pictures and videos.
Connor is 7 months old as of this past Friday and he had an appointment with Dr. Mac the Friday before that. That was his 6 month checkup, but I put it off because Dr. Mac was out of the office and I really like to see him if possible. I get attached to specific doctors - obviously because I continued to see my OBGYN in Hattiesburg throughout my pregnancy even though we live in Gulfport. Anywho...He is now 17 lbs 2 oz and 26.5" long. His head measures 17.5" and Ms. D, the nurse, cautioned us not to make fun of his head size. Then we explained that he really does have a better than average chance of having a huge noggin since I have a rather large one myself. In case you don't know I wear an XL motorcycle helmet and it isn't just the hair!! Dr. Mac seemed rather impressed with Connor's progress and we don't have to go back until 9 months. He won't get any vaccinations on that appointment like he has on all his previous ones - just a checkup to make sure he is doing well.
Mr. Connor (as we often call him) is crawling very quickly now and pulling up on most everything. He has been doing a lot of rocking which looks somewhat like chair dancing to me. He has also rediscovered his hands and is loving watching them as he circles them in the air and moves his fingers around. He is "talking" a lot, but still nothing that we adult humans can really interpret. It is pretty obvious though when he is telling you to go to ...well, we won't go there. The video I want to upload ASAP is what I call his flappy jaws and it too cute.
I have also won a very important battle as of today. There is one food that Stephen really doesn't like and that is sweet potatoes. We have wondered if Connor would like them and as of tonight - we know that he does. This has been the only food so far that he wouldn't STOP eating. He ate 2 servings of sweet potatoes for dinner and loved them!! Looks like we will have sweet potatoes much more regularly in the McClelland household!! By the way, they are best baked with some butter and brown sugar. YUMMY!!
I am going to retire now and hopefully I can get some new pictures up in just a matter of days. I do have another section of my CPA exam on Wednesday afternoon in Mobile, AL. Stephen has been absolutely amazing this weekend by letting me study while he has tended to Mr. Connor for the most part. I still cradle my baby and hold his bottle from time to time when he eats - okay, almost every time he eats when I am home - so I did steal a few minutes here and there with him this weekend.
And since this is my first chance to speak to you all - I just want to say that Stephen is always wonderful and is the best daddy. I used to tell him (over the last decade - wow) that he was going to be the best daddy ever and it is so totally true.
Good night, everyone and I hope you all have a great week...
